Strategies & Tactics to Improve Online Conversations

You have a story to tell, a message to communicate… and today, your audience is online.

melanie broemsenWith all the options out there, it should be easy, right?

Wrong! Today’s technology gives people more communication options than ever before, segmenting them into even smaller groups. It also provides us with an opportunity to understand our audiences on a more individual basis, so we can develop more intimate relationships with them - and learn how to foster a more appropriate and personal interactive dialogue through their preferred communication channels.

Understanding how to best find and reach exactly the right person, at exactly the right time, with exactly the right message can be a pretty overwhelming and complicated process - and one that’s just as rewarding when successful.

Online PR Guide is here to help professional PR practitioners, interactive professionals, marketers and others like you bridge online gaps in the communication process using technology to develop successful strategies, create and deliver relevant messages that achieve positive, measurable results. It explores how you can leverage traditional public relations and marketing tools, and fuse them with technology and data to find, understand, reach and effectively communicate with your key publics, thereby creating a more holistic approach to public relations and marketing.

I’m Melanie Broemsen, and I’ll be your Online PR Guide.

I spend my weekdays days working at an interactive marketing agency in Cleveland, and specialize in optimizing content for the Web. I get to study how things like news releases effect search engine rankings, and how users interact with them, too. I’m fortunate enough to work with a group of not only really great, but also really smart, people. In my spare time, I sell classroom and school furniture online, and participate on PRSA’s Multicultural Diversity Task Force.

In addition to studying online communication, I enjoy music, hanging out with friends, playing  on Facebook and exploring life’s possibilities. I’m interested in traveling, learning to surf, and believe everyone should love tropical weather as much as I do. I’m a fan of the Art Deco and flashy neon of South Beach, in addition to South Florida’s exotic ocean breezes and vibrant cultural melting pot. I like cars with a manual transmission, spicy food and the iPhone over the Blackberry.

Eventually, I will update this with a more visual CV. In the meantime feel free to post your questions, share your lessons learned and contact me if you have any questions.
